1D Cut List Optimizer

Calculate materials, optimize cutting layouts and estimate costs. Make every measurement count.

Planning estimates; verify measurements and product data before purchasing.

Your material plan

Enter your measurements to build a material plan.

Parts are sorted from longest to shortest. The algorithm places each part in the best-fitting opened board, then chooses a new stock option if needed. Two stock-selection priorities are compared by cost and total length. Kerf and safety allowance are charged for every part, including the final cut; this is conservative when an end can be reused without cutting. Stock quantities are finite.

Calculation method

L₁ ≥ L₂ ≥ …; min(Sᵢ − Σ(Lⱼ + k + a) − 2t)

Measure. Calculate. Build.

  1. Use actual dimensions and split complex rooms into rectangles.
  2. Allow for cuts, joints and package sizes. Compare stock formats.
  3. Combine your results in a shopping list you can save and print.
